12/13/18 Broadcasts

  • 10:00am – 12:00pm Luxxury – Good Morning, Disco!

Blake Robin is excited to return to the airwaves for the first time since high school when he ran the 2-6am slot at SF’s legendary 90.3FM KUSF. Expect the same blend of disco and funk with drips and drops of pop that he employs in both his original music as LUXXURY as well as his lauded/controversial series of LUXXURY Edits. How can pleasure be guilty when it feels so right?

  • 4:00pm – 6:00pm Hoseh – Version Sounds

    HOSEH
“Version Sounds is my interpretation of radio communication, my version. At its roots, the show credits reggae dub for adding so much to the music we listen to today. From there the branches continue to sprout via a myriad of genres and time spans. Colombian cumbias meet Germanic techno dub meets British twee pop. Stereolab and Sun Ra lounge around as Stars of the Lid jam with Prince Jammy. You never know what to expect but you are guaranteed that the now sounds of 2013 will have a toast with the happening sonics of 1968 and beyond!” love, Hoseh

  • 6:00pm – 8:00pm Piper Durabo + Bennett Kogon (KXLU) – In Studio Mix

Maraschino is the new solo project from Los Angeles-based electronic pop artist Piper Durabo. Like its name suggests, Maraschino is strong and sweet, with a glossy sheen. Taking cues from a diverse array of experimental pop icons including Blondie, Suicide and Saâda Bonaire, Maraschino is mystic disco-pop for introverts. Crystalline melodies emerge from waves of swirling, hypnotic synths and Piper’s seductive vocals, and linger in your ears long after the songs are over. Maraschino’s debut EP will be out spring of 2019.

    DJ Bennett (KXLU)

The Bennett Show is 6-9am on Thursday mornings on KXLU 88.9 FM.
