CUTS 01 / a melting pot of dark wave electronic, footwork, bounce, hip hop, jazz and textured instrumentals all linked together by a cacophony of samples which have been cut, chopped, and screwed from vinyls excavated from the depths of dollar bins around Los Angeles and beyond.

  • 6:00pm – 8:00pm Jai Piccone – guest session

A light breeze moves through the grassy hilltops of this sleepy picturesque hideaway. There’s little activity throughout the year bar a couple of huge big-name festivals
that come and go, but in recent years something’s begun to stir on the south-eastern coast of Australia. Hailing from Byron Bay, young rising talent Jai Piccone steps out for his first ever solo release. Having already built an international following with 4-piece band Tora, Jai creates a space of his own with debut EP ‘Movers’. The impulse to translate feelings and ideas came after an emotionally turbulent period in 2017 – the result was lead-single ‘Care’, a deep and gently melancholic house track that features his own vocals, deft percussion programming and sweeping synth chords. After months of gradual work, refining and revisiting ideas, sounds began to solidify to form a release. ‘Racer’ and ‘Never Let U Down’ follow suit with driving beats and smooth transitions, threaded together with colorful artwork done by Jai himself.

Whilst continuing to build on the Tora project, Jai’s desire to create music that’s more functional for the dance floor became increasingly apparent. International
touring excursions with Tora over the last few years have nurtured his musical output as he’s gained exposure to scenes in London, Berlin and beyond. Launching solo as Jai Piccone has given him more freedom to explore his own ideas whilst transferring elements of the slick live-electronic sound of Tora into his music. ‘Movers’ presents three highly polished club tracks, with lead single ‘Care’ set to be released on 31st August.
