  • 2:00pm – 4:00pm Black Hole Oscillators – Live Session

    Black Hole Oscillators (BHO)

Black Hole Oscillators (BHO) is an experimental psychedelic rock band formed in Los Angeles by Max Guirand (lead vocals/guitar/effects/synth) in 2008. After relocating to San Francisco Guirand was joined by Lukas Vesely (vocals/bass) in 2011 and was later joined by Jesse Olswang (drums/electronics/visuals) in 2013. The band is preparing a tour for 2018 as well as a new album release.

Max Guirand created Black Hole Oscillators while living in Echo Park California during a time when the city was particularly musically fertile. Echo Park was going through a psychedelic rock and folk revival as well as producing fresh experimental music, art and film. During his time there, Guirand cofounded Lion of Panjshir (now Ariana Delawari) and traveled to Afghanistan to record their debut album that was released on David Lynch’s music label. Next, he became a member of He’s My Brother, She’s My Sister as part of the original lineup. Once in San Francisco he joined Siddhartha (originally out of Detroit) and later revived Black Hole Oscillators with the new line up just days before the band’s first tour with Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros.

Lukas Vesely is a multi-instrumentalist, performer, composer and music educator. He consistently tours in America, Asia, Europe and has performed in rock clubs, jazz festivals, theaters, and concert halls all over the world. Some of his more notable recent works includes performances at Breda jazz festivals in 2014 Europe (Holland) with Steve Lucky and the Rhumba Bums. His most recent tour of Asia was to Bali, Indonesia, where he played at the famous and inspirational cultural center, Guruda Wisnu Kencana with Secondhand Serenade.

Jesse Olswang, originally from New Jersey and raised in California, was exposed to a variety of musical styles by his father who had musical instruments around the house and an extensive collection of vinyl records. Olswang was lucky to learn drums and guitar from his dad starting at age 10. Jesse has been writing and performing music for over 20 years and has added his drumming to numerous bands around the San Francisco bay area as well as forming several himself. Most recently he was a member of Siddhartha , cofounded Buzzmutt and adds his considerable and unique skill on the drums as well as sampling, effects and visuals. His latest endeavor is in music video editing and direction.
