Rene Contreras w/guest Misha of SadGirl – Oh No It's Monday!
Oh No It’s Monday focuses on up and coming music coming from different areas of the world. The show also brings attention on what bands to watch that happen to live in our own backyard in Los Angeles. Sometimes they have special guest musicians whom are on tour and happen to be in town. Monday’s don’t have to be terrible tune in grab a morning drink and discover new music from around the world and from your own backyard.
On a full moon SadGirl mysteriously surfaced out of the Pacific and staggered onto the streets of LA. Cousins Misha Lindes (guitar/vocals), Paul Caruso (drums) and Dakota Peterson (bass) don’t remember much of their childhood (it was submerged at the bottom of the murky sea). But now, the lo-fi, surf-wop trio is making waves. Proclaimed one of LA’s Hardest-Working Bands by Oh My Rockness, SadGirl delivers an iconic, “DIY” package of sound and image, complete with logo and merch designs equally fashionable and punk-rock. Like a twisted marriage between Roy Orbison and The Cramps (ordained by Link Wray) SadGirl invokes the music of a by-gone era. But don’t be fooled, these aren’t the tunes from Uncle Jimmy’s juke box…

Julius Smack & Kohinoorgasm – Practical Records Presents
Julius Smack is a statue awoken from antiquity. His performances propose a “storybook realness” incorporating vogue-inspired dance and a dissonance between digital textures and classical instrumentation. He has released two albums on Practical Records, an artist-run label that he founded in 2013.
Kohinoorgasm (one word: ko-hee-noor-gasm) is the experimental pop music project of Josephine Shetty. As a mixed race, queer, desi artist, she seeks to expand conceptions of multidimensional identity-based experiences by writing and performing reflections on complex histories and emotions. She has performed at universities, museums, festivals, traditional music venues, and DIY spaces across the United States. Josephine is born and based in Los Angeles, CA.
