LA RECORD “100″ THEME STREAM
LISTEN >>> LA RECORD “100″ THEME STREAM
For the past half decade Los Angeles has been blessed with a truly dedicated music publication. The great folks at LA Record launched their laser-focused, poster-zine from their living rooms in 2005 and are now celebrating their 100th issue. Their format has fine-tuned over time but the mission remains the same. LA Record shouts out tomorrow’s sounds today. They turn the world onto artists that mainstream press inevitably drools over long after LA Record’s prophetic ink has dried. They have hipped dublab to so much amazing music and given us even greater appreciation for LA sounds we were already deeply in love with. LA Record have also developed an incredibly rich website for daily music fixes and as a great tool for folks outside the reach of the physical zine to get turned onto new music.
LA Record is a homegrown project blossoming brightly. We know they’ll continue building with a lot of love, positive energy and desire to promote creative music from LA and beyond. To help celebrate LA Record’s 100th issue milestone we offer you this theme stream filled with mixes from the LA Record staff and a heavy array of special guests. Enjoy the sounds and click the following links to find out more about these mixes and download each individually.

Red Bull Music Academy Theme Stream

The Red Bull Music Academy is a vibrant, nomadic music movement. Over the past twelve years they have brought hundreds of young, international music talents together with sonic pioneers to explore the landscape of modern sound through intimate workshops, lectures and public performances. The RBMA has popped up in Berlin, Dublin, London, New York, São Paulo, Cape Town, Rome, Seattle, Melbourne, Toronto and Barcelona. These actions are forming bonds that create elevated music for the entire world to experience.
dublab has always held the Red Bull Music Academy mission in high regard and we were thrilled to have the honor and privilege to be welcomed to this year’s Red Bull Music Academy in the heart of London. For two days we broadcasted live from the RBMA Radio studios in an absolutely mind blowing environment built from scratch to house this year’s Academy.
Tune into this special themeStream to hear an archive of dublab’s broadcast featuring RBMA Team Members: Many Ameri, Benji B, Gerd Janson, Robin “Hannibal” Braun alongside RBMA participants: Kidkanevil, Myele Manzanza, Cherry Chan, Gabriel Nascimbeni, Monosylabikk, Illum Sphere, Moisés Horta (Kixly/Los Macuanos), Scout Klas and alumni Andreya Triana. Click here to see photos from our time at RBMA London.
Alongside dublab’s recorded glimpse into the electric atmosphere of the Red Bull Music Academy we have included individual tracks produced at past Academies plus some of our favorite sessions from the deep Red Bull Music Academy Radio archive including interviews and mixes from Moodymann, Fennesz, Bullion, Mulatu Astatke, Dam Funk, Steve Reich, Joe Boyd, Don Letts, Alexander Tucker, Animal Collective, Four Tet, The Slits, Gary Numan, Durutti Column, A Certain Ratio, Front 242, Lucky Dragons, Egyptian Lover, Don Buchla, Honest Jon’s Records and many many more!

MATTHEWDAVID “HIGH WAISTLINE” THEME STREAM

LISTEN >>> MATTHEWDAVID “HIGH WAISTLINE” THEME STREAM
matthewdavid is a man flying forward into the world of wow and flutter. His ears are keenly tuned to all around sound signals. His “high waistline” dublab sessions are a splendid spectrum of cassette sources, nature notes, fuzz hugged-beats and far-out folk.
matthewdavid’s creative output is always expanding through offerings via the Brainfeeder label/collective, Calling All Kids free weekly LA club night and his lovingly curated label Leaving Records.
We hope you dig this theme stream showcasing matthewdavid, a beloved member of the dublab family and one of the most wonderful dudes we know.

DYING SONGS TOP 100 OF THE DECADE THEME STREAM

LISTEN >>> DYING SONGS TOP 100 OF THE DECADE THEME STREAM
This is the Dying Songs Top 100 of the decade. Some of the songs made it on as representatives of albums I really liked, some represent the artist’s overall contribution to the decade and some just stand alone as really good tracks. I made the list with Dying Songs in mind so certain kinds of music that might have made my personal list didn’t make it on here since it’s not stuff I play on the show. Also I excluded all friends’ music because it’s too stressful. I’m not posting a playlist because that would ruin the suspense but I did have a robot announce every song and their ranking so you can keep track. If the robot’s not giving you enough info feel free to write: jimmy@dublab.com
Happy 2010!
- Jimmy
Conversations Theme Stream

Our conversations go way beyond the usual questions, and we strive to provide an outlet for our guests to dig deep and drop real wisdom on us all.

HOSEH “VERSION SOUNDS” THEME STREAM
Version-n.-

2. A particular form or variant of something
3. A translation
4. King Tubby, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Herman Chin, Errol Thompson, Scientist
Howdy Dublab Lovers,
Thanks for tuning into the Hoseh/Version Sounds Theme Stream. It is my pleasure to have shared with you so many sounds over the 8 past years. This is my interpretation of radio communication, my version. At its roots, the show credits reggae dub for adding so much to the music we listen to today. From there the branches continue to sprout via a myriad of genres and time spans. Colombian cumbias meet Germanic tecnho dub meets British twee pop. Stereolab and Sun Ra lounge around as Stars of the Lid jam with Prince Jammy. You never know what to expect but you are guaranteed that the now sounds of 2008 will have a toast with the happening sonics of 1968 and beyond! Enjoy and I look forward to sharing with you for many more musical years to come.

ALE “ELEVATION THROUGH SOUND” THEME STREAM
Hello everyone,
I hope you enjoy all the sessions I’ve been recording through the years here at dublab.
It’s great to see all the songs I like playing one after the other.
Elevation Through Sound was never a conceptual show that focused on a specific genre
of music, if anything it’s absolutely the opposite. That’s always been the fun part of it for me.
To mix all the styles, sounds, and moods into one. Thank you for listening!!!
